Who's Who

Staff Team

Rev. Jules Walker

Hi I’m Rev Jules Walker, currently Acting Team Rector in the Uttoxeter of Parishes. I’ve been in the Uttoxeter team since 2021, and love living in Marchington. A born and bred Cheshire girl, I was ordained at Chester Cathedral in 2012 and served my curacy in 3 rural parishes near Nantwich and moved to the Diocese of Lichfield in 2018. Prior to ordination I had a career in accountancy working in the petrochemical industry before escaping to University to read theology in 2003. After graduation I worked within the Diocese of Liverpool's Lifelong Learning Team based at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, alongside continued academic study, until answering a call to ordination in 2010. I trained residentially at St John’s College Nottingham. I’m married to Drew who is an ordained Chaplain within the NHS and Prison sectors, have 4 adult children and 8 grandchildren.

Rev. Chris Brown

I was born in Halifax and at an early age moved to Winson Green in Birmingham. My family moved to Uttoxeter in 1964 where I attended my last year at School. In 1965 I began my apprenticeship as an Agricultural Engineer. I retired from full time work in 2014. I am married to Diane and have two daughters and three Grandchildren. I was ordained as an Ordained Local Minister in 2003 and am licenced as an assistant curate to the diocese of Lichfield.

Rev. Charles Dale

Charles has been worshipping at St Mary's Church all his life and at some time has been part of most of the services and activities.  Charles completed his training and was ordained in 2002 and now leads Sunday and Wednesday services regularly.  He also takes christenings, weddings and funerals and many people benefit from his pastoral support inspired by his love for God and commitment to St Mary's.  Charles worked for many years in education and is still using his skills in schools in the area and  he is particularly well-known to the children at St Mary's School.

Lucy Toyn Licensed Reader

Lucy has responsibility for the 6pm service. A group of about 25 who meet at 6pm on a Sunday for a less formal evening service with contemporary music.  The service takes place on the 1st 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month- come and see who we are! We support each other and are involved with lots of other Church activities during the week.

Having done the two-year reader course in the diocese, I was licensed to the area as a Reader in 2015. I am on the PCC at St Mary’s, Deanery Synod and Diocesan Synod. I go to a house group and help occasionally with the toddler group.  I was a school governor for many years and worked in physio teams for the NHS locally.  I have grown up children who went to schools in the town and are now working in different places and have children of their own who are great fun to visit.   My Christian faith and involvement in the local Church community are very important to me.  Visiting my family, spending time with friends, playing tennis, going for walks, dance fitness and singing are all things I like to do.

Nicola Bagworth - Benefice Administrator & Safeguarding Officer

I joined the Uttoxeter Area of Parishes team in September 2024 as Benefice Administrator and Safeguarding Officer, supporting the life and work of all 11 parishes across the benefice. My role involves helping ensure the smooth running of parish administration, alongside overseeing safeguarding to help create safe, supportive, and welcoming church communities.

Although I come from a Christian background, my faith has taken on a renewed depth since stepping into this role. This has led me to begin exploring a vocation towards ordained ministry, which I continue to prayerfully discern.

I am married to Richard and am a proud mum of three amazing children, as well as a very blessed grandmother to three grandchildren, who bring me so much joy. I am naturally a friendly and talkative person, and I love being part of the church environment and the wider church family.
